5 of the Best Cruise Destinations

With so much of the world at our fingertips, it can be hard to decide where we want to go. The great thing about cruises is that you don’t have to pick just one place to explore, and you can now see big sections of the world in one trip.

Many people book cruises many months if not years in advance. However, if you are able to travel on short notice and are looking for last minute cruises, then Cruise and Maritime Voyages could have the perfect deal for you, with many departing in a matter of weeks. With a whole world to see, it can be tricky trying to decide which routes would suit you best, so here are our picks.

Western Europe
One of the most popular cruise options in the world is around the Mediterranean, and with all it has to offer it is not hard to see why. The Western Mediterranean is a great place for foodies. The area offers delicious tapas, anywhere along the Spanish coast, but is particularly mourish in the Catalonian capital of Barcelona. From there head to Marseille for the famous fish stew, bouillabaisse, or across to Rome for handmade traditional pasta dishes in Rome.

The Caribbean
Islands in the east of the Caribbean such as Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas provide peaceful locations for utter relaxation. If it is zip lining, snorkeling and general adventure you seek, try some of the western Caribbean such as Belize and Honduras instead. No matter which part of the Caribbean you pick, a cruise around these waters will give you crystal clear, turquoise waters, soft, white sandy beaches and fantastic food.

Egypt
There is simply nowhere better for a cruise if it is history you seek. No cruise packs more in than the ones that sail down the longest river in the world. A cruise from Luxor to Aswan takes five days and packs in everything you would expect to see in Egypt, apart from perhaps the pyramids, such as The Valley of The Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Aswan High Dam, with expert guides available along the way if required.

The Baltics
Definitely one to consider in the summer months, where daylight lingers on long into the evening, and sometimes doesn’t die at all, a cruise around the Baltic countries will introduce you to a variety of cultures and impressive architecture. From Gdansk in Poland and the Danish capital of Copenhagen in the west, across to Tallinn, Estonia and round to St Petersburg in the west, there are so many interesting cities to explore on a cruise around the Baltic Sea.

Norway
One of the most popular cruises to take in Europe is the Norwegian Fjords, with the best time to visit for sun seekers between June and August. If it is the Northern Lights you are looking to catch then try this route between October and March for the best results. Always a beloved cruising destination, the Norwegian Fjords have interestingly seen a surge in popularity amongst families in recent years thanks to the prominence of the Disney movie Frozen.
