January Savings

January

January means a few different things – depressing weather, a huge credit card bill, and a bulging waistline. That’s generally what it means for me anyway. However, whether this fits your picture or not, one thing January means for everyone is sales.

Whether it be clothes, food, gadgets or holidays, January brings an abundance of money saving offers, and even though some of them are needless, because let’s face it, do you really need a new wardrobe? Some of them are certainly worth taking advantage of.

Let’s talk cheap holidays.

In January, you’ll often find your TV bombarded with holiday adverts, all with a percentage off, free child places etc, and if you know when you want to go away in summer, this is the time to book. If you have children, free child places will save you a lot of money, and they are on a first come, first served basis, so you have to act fast.

Once you’ve booked your holiday, it’s important to get those other important extras in place, so you don’t have to think about them again, leaving you to get on with the fun stuff, but also because you will save money by not leaving everything until the last minute. I recently booked Manchester Airport parking for my holiday in May, and saved a considerable amount when compared with the coach fare to the airport. Look at what’s available from your terminal, and you’ll probably be surprised at the low cost. I often book with ParkBCP, having found a great level of customer service and cost, so I’d certainly recommend looking into this.

Airfares are often what drives the price of a holiday up, and again, in January you’ll often find major airlines have offers of some description, such as saving a percentage on a return flight booking. If you’re booking a DIY holiday, such as organising the various parts of your holiday separately, then it’s worth at least booking your flight whilst these sales are on. Alternatively, most large holiday companies will have sales on package holidays.

January is the time to act!

Of course, another major positive in booking your summer break in January is that it gives you a bright beaming light, something to look forward to amidst what is generally the most depressing month of the year. Sometimes a little boost of a holiday countdown can be all it takes to kick you out of the winter blues – it certainly works for me.

Save some money, put a smile on your face, and be proud of your bargain grabbing skills. January has some positives after all!
