Natural wonders of New England

If city life isn’t perhaps for you, or if you’re simply looking for a quiet and relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of city living then rural New England is most certainly the ideal U.S destination for you. Everywhere you look you’ll be met with lush green and tranquil scenery, and foliage that’s simply awe inspiring, especially during the fall when the leaves begin to change colour. With quaint wooden houses, steeples, barns, and lush green pastures, trees, copses and fields stretching for as far as the eye can see, it’s no wonder that so many holiday makers flock there every single year for a much needed get away. If you’ve always considered visiting New England, without actually visiting, then by the time you’ve finished reading this article, we’ll have made your minds up for you and you’ll wonder why you didn’t visit sooner. Here’s a look at a few of the more natural wonders of New England.

Acadia national park

Located in Maine, this stunning 47,000 acre park is considered one of the most stunning areas of the entire state, possibly even the country. With mountain peaks, lakes, rivers, streams, woodland, forests, and even coastline, it’s no wonder that so many people taking their holidays to New England this year will make Acadia national park one of their very first destinations once they arrive. Keen nature and wildlife enthusiasts will be especially drawn into this magical place as there are a number of rare and beautiful animals nearby that are native this part of the country. There is even a bus that’s completely free that will stop at a number of different stops within the national park’s area to allow visitors to explore every inch of this stunning location.

The Cog railway

Situated on Mt Washington, the cog railway is another amazing destination that will prove to be a huge amount of fun for people of all ages and genders. Guests will be able to jump onboard several colourfully decorated locomotives and slowly make their way all the way up the summit of Mt Washington whilst revelling in some simply awe-inspiring views as they do so. The train travels at around 3mph so there is more than enough time to get your camera out and snap some of the best pictures you could ever imagine. The Cog railway travels upwards at roughly a 40 degree angle and will take you up through lush greenery, forests, trees, and mountain ranges as you make your ascent to the top of the iconic mountain.

Mystic Seaport

The mystic seaport is basically an actual living museum showcasing everything you could ever wish to know about the New England Maritime way of life. There are galleries, a preservation shipyard, and even a recreation of a coastal village dating back to the 19th century. You can marvel at boats, lobster cages, tools, fishermen, story tellers, and once again a distinct and stunning coastal setting. Breath in the sea air and travel back in time by visiting the Mystic Seaport.
